Hi all interested in continuous delivery and integration,
Contrary to srcdeps, this guy [1] does not try to avoid releases and
maven repos, instead, he just makes the release process extremely
effective. Some of his ideas can be used to improve the srcdeps plugin.

I like his approach, but I believe this means that releases are to be
made only on CI servers, right? So, no more manual releasing?

I understand that this may even be an advantage, as there
we can always know a known JDK and other environment?
To me this sounds good at first. Where it does not go into
is if the modules of the multi-module build are pulled in
from different repositories like we do.

No, quite the opposite. I'm in favor of building only on stable
machines, with reproducible environments.
But it does break the current workflow of most our modules. I believe
they are (almost) all released locally by the developers themselves.

With the src-dep approach we had discussed, the need
for those releases would have gone down anyway. I think
the key point here is that we know where stuff comes
from and not that there is something with a foo-1.2.3-Final
stamp in some nexus repo.
So just putting a tag into the git repo may be enough.
