The id will be assigned is 2, while I would expect 51…(or 52, or >50 I don’t care) if I update generator to 100, the assigned id will be 52… Seems a bug? In prev versions(3-5) it was working as expected. Looking briefly in the code I see hibernate reads value from the table, updates with increment and then returns the value that was read, and after that applies formula value read - (increment size-1). I have modified the test case and it fails with @Proxy(lazy=false) while it works without @Proxy(lazy=false). I have the same behaviour with my real code base: a stackoverflow with @Proxy(lazy=false) and no error without it. Many of the user probably don’t read the manual really carefully when using this method (as we did neither). They probably just want to get a java-stream, and in the javadoc of the method (jakarta.persistence.TypeQuery) there seems to be no danger. Additionally, that occurs is not the fault easy to find as it relays on the sorting of the data in the DB. When creating unit-test most often with the small amount of data it is not triggered or the data is added the same order as it is read. I see multiple possibilities that could help to reduce the risk for this error: * Fail on executing the query if it is not sorted by entity * Log a warning if it occurs that a database-row is ignored because the entity was already created * Only allow to use the streaming if a certain flag is set, this would force to read the doc. The problem seems isolated to the BytecodeEnhancerRunner JUnit Runner we use to test enhancement, though I cannot explain it. Hoping someone can help? java.lang.ClassCastException: class org.junit.internal.runners.ErrorReportingRunner cannot be cast to class org.junit.runners.ParentRunner (org.junit.internal.runners.ErrorReportingRunner and org.junit.runners.ParentRunner are in unnamed module of loader 'app') If not, I think I’ll take you up on your offer Rafael. What confuses me is that ByteBuddy does not load Class references into any classloader, so I am not sure how using ByteBuddy has this affect at all. In all cases there’s an alias used in the where clause which isn’t declared. This occurs in cases the query contains a condition which refers to a relation of the entity to update/delete. The JPQL query UPDATE PrivateSubData psd set psd.dataName = '...' where psd.data.person.id = ?1 is translated to SQL as update private_sub_data set data_name='...' where d1_0.person_id=? We were able to create a reproducer with 3 entities. In our production code, this also occurs in cases with only 2 entites which do not require any join or inner select. We could not reproduce this case in a simple code base. I debugged and the reason i found is: In the SybaseDialect in the method “public NameQualifierSupport getNameQualifierSupport()” the “NameQualifierSupport” changed from BOTH to CATALOG, therefore in the class “QualifiedObjectNameFormatterStandardImpl” the “CatalogNameFormat” class is used instead of the “CatalogSchemaNameFormat” to build the rootTableName (in the “SingleTableEntityPersister” class). Whereas this thing is going to initialize a collection with a different set of elements depending upon which query got lucky and was executed first. But OK, look, if there are tests for this, and this is something well-defined that we know works and we guarantee will keep working, I guess it’s OK. My fear was more that (since it doesn’t particularly seem to be documented anywhere) maybe it was something that just happened to work by accident. If that’s not the case then I guess I can live with it though I really don’t love it, and I really don’t think it’s a good thing to allow. Note that Session filters also affect collection contents which I doubt is something that we want do de-support.
