Good points. The only reason I saw to leave the old .bat scripts around
was compatibility, but if we move them, that's gone, so there's not much
point in keeping them in the distribution.

I don't think downloading PowerShell is too much to ask. If you are
crazy enough to use WinXP, you shouldn't be surprised that you have to
add something to make it work.
