Neil Griffin commented on RHDS-221:
-----------------------------------
Thanks Mark
BTW, I was able to make my own 64 bit build and get it running (with visual faces-config
editor working and everything) by following these steps:
(Thanks in part to this post:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=542056)
1. Download the 64 bit version of Eclipse 3.3. I downloaded it from
http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/d...-200706251500/
2. Install RHDS using the installer workaround mentioned above, but be sure to specify 386
and not 368
3. Extract Eclipse 3.3 somewhere else
4. Copy the eclipse executable from Eclipse 3.3 to the RHDS/eclipse folder
5. Copy all the stuff under Eclipse 3.3 "plugins" to the RHDS/eclipse/plugins
folder
6. Edit the RHDS/eclipse/eclipse.ini file and change this:
/home/ngriffin/Tools/jdk1.5.0_14/jre/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so
To this:
/home/ngriffin/Tools/jdk1.5.0_14/jre/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so
Support 64-Bit JVMs on Linux
----------------------------
Key: RHDS-221
URL:
http://jira.jboss.com/jira/browse/RHDS-221
Project: Red Hat Developer Studio
Issue Type: Bug
Components: installer, Build, integration
Affects Versions: 1.0.0.beta2
Environment: Linux x86_64, any jdk
Reporter: Holger Pirk
Priority: Minor
Fix For: LATER
Original Estimate: 30 minutes
Remaining Estimate: 30 minutes
When picking the JVM, the installer shows a "The chosen directory does not contain a
Java VM"-message, when picking a 64-bit jdk.
It checks for "selected-path/lib/i386/client/libjvm.so" to verify the path but
it is "selected-path/lib/amd64/server/libjvm.so" for a 64-bit jdk.
