ClassNotFoundException: org.jboss.forge.bootstrap.Bootstrap

Hi folks, I just downloaded the Forge 2 distribution from https://repository.jboss.org/nexus/service/local/artifact/maven/redirect?... When I try to start it by running the forge script, I get the following exception: Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.jboss.forge.bootstrap.Bootstrap at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247) Could not find the main class: org.jboss.forge.bootstrap.Bootstrap. Java Parser API v2

Hi all, As development continues on Forge 2, I think we had all hoped the improvements to the parser API would be available in time to be used for the release. We now have a split between JavaType and JavaSource which represent the read only and writable portions of the parser API for a given class|interface|enum|annotation|package-descriptor. The latest version is at https://github.com/forge/java-parser/tree/refactor-hierarchy. Would it be SOP to proceed by publishing a SNAPSHOT, or...? Also, since there are quite a few incompatible API changes, I wonder if it would make sense to change the package name at some level, e.g. org.jboss.forge.parser2, as well as the Maven artifact id. By avoiding "jar hell" with multiple versions of the library on the classpath, this would make it possible for dependent Forge plugins to switch over gradually if necessary and might avoid impacting release timelines. Hey Ivan, Sorry for the late reply. We have a template you should use for your README.asciidoc. It's located here: https://raw.github.com/forge/core/2.0/addons/impl/src/main/resources/org/... For the commands, you should add Man pages (we have not yet documented this): https://github.com/forge/core/blob/2.0/shell/impl/src/main/resources/org/... You'll just need to place the .txt or .ad or .asciidoc file in the resources source directory with the same package and name as the command it documents. E.g: The above text file will display when you type "man exit", for this: https://github.com/forge/core/blob/2.0/shell/impl/src/main/java/org/jboss... Releasing Beta2 Monday

FYI - Due to the fact that we missed inclusion in JBoss Tools 4.1.1 initial build, we have a day or two before re-spin 1. "Please wait while Forge 2 is loading"

Hey Koen, Any chance you could convert this startup dialog into a task that can be run in the background? (Like some other operations that allow you to select "run in background"). Also, could you take a look at making the Forge Commands cancelable? Right now the progress indicator on an executed command may get stuck on a "poorly written command" (a simple infinite loop would do), resulting in total workspace lock. It would be nice if the cancel box on these commands actually killed the command/thread/process that was hung. Thoughts? -- Lincoln Baxter, III http://ocpsoft.org "Simpler is better."

Found the issue with Hibernate Tools ConnectionProfileManagerProvider CCE

The issue was not with the CLAC, but rather the fact that the forge2.runtime ClassLoader did not contain the necessary classes, thus the CLAC did not know of their existence, and created a proxy with no interfaces. https://github.com/forge/jbosstools-forge/commit/87c6553da Addon APIs must be added to the forge2.runtime module. If this is an issue, and other JBT/Eclipse UI extensions need their classes made available (say for an extension API), we will need to re-visit the way in which we are instantiating the CLAC and see if it still makes sense. We may need to add a CLAC extension point to allow making a given invocation with the TCCL (or fall back to the TCCL if nothing else resolves, currently we ignore TCCL.)
