any reason why you guys don't tell to install from jbosstools nightly
site for those wanting latest/greatest ? it will have the right/current
target platform linked in as opposed to forge on its own which will just
declare what it would like to get...?

First you need to install the JBoss Usage feature in the
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/luna/ update
site. I think Forge 2 should be listed there as well. We probably need
to update the README in the docs.
