At least, it's very important to make WTP a welcoming place for potential
new contributors. With Eclipse Jakarta EE, that increases chances of
Eclipse IDE being perceived as the "official" tool for Jakarta EE like
NetBeans was for Java EE and of having more contributors chiming in. We
must not miss any opportunity to get new contributors to WTP.
I think it would be worth getting in touch with the Middleware team to see
if they can or want help in improving support for Jakarta EE in Eclipse
IDE. I don't expect any specific help from Red Hat Developers as its goals
seem to exclude every IDE that's not Che or VSCode these days.
Also, some support for recent Java EE is part of JBoss Tools, and while I
presented which ones could be moved upstream in last F2F, the overall
reaction from Red Hat Developers PM was that it's not worth it. Maybe it's
worth it for Middleware now, so if we have an opportunity to get additional
resources (from Middleware) to move some code from JBoss Tools to
Eclipse.org, that would really be a positive move for everyone.
