[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-25278) NullPointerException during saving Server Adapter for OpenShift application
by Rob Stryker (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-25278?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugi... ]
Rob Stryker commented on JBIDE-25278:
-------------------------------------
Ok... I need to rant. I find this 100% ridiculous.
{code}
protected void update(Connection connection, List<Connection> connections,
org.eclipse.core.resources.IProject deployProject, List<org.eclipse.core.resources.IProject> projects,
String sourcePath, String podPath, boolean useInferredPodPath,
IResource resource, List<ObservableTreeItem> resourceItems,
IRoute route, boolean isSelectDefaultRoute, Map<IProject, List<IRoute>> routesByProject,
IStatus ocBinaryStatus,
boolean useImageDevmodeKey, String devmodeKey,
boolean useImageDebugPortKey, String debugPortKey, boolean useImageDebugPortValue, String debugPortValue) {
{code}
This method keeps growing and growing and growing. Every single time a new property is added, this method gets larger and larger. And why? Why are we updating ALL properties whenever ONE property changes? This makes absolutely no sense. Zero. It's extremely messy and incomprehensible and I've had just about enough of it. Why can't we break this crap out into smaller units of functionality? Why does changing the route change everything? Why does changing the debug poirt key have to have any effect on the list of connections, or the oc binary status, etc etc etc?
Why can't changing one field just be reserved for changing one field!??!?!

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-25278) NullPointerException during saving Server Adapter for OpenShift application
by Rob Stryker (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-25278?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugi... ]
Rob Stryker commented on JBIDE-25278:
-------------------------------------
I've managed to come up with a patch that makes the actions actually undoable. But, the UI isn't responding, because there's no implementation to update the model. And in fact the model itself can't even be updated without knowing the specific method name. This would make the current solution unworkable because we'd either have to pass in a method name and call it via reflection (dumb) or have the SetStringCommand class somehow have a series of if statements for each possible thing in the model.

Are these flags standard to all images?
I'm very concerned that the openshift server adapter design is going to be flooded with a huge number of use-case-specific crap that isn't applicable to other situations. This stuff as a whole really needs to be spec'd out. A list of all things an openshift server should be able to do, and a set of different behavior for each task need to be outlined. Then implementations can be made.
Right now it seems everything is 100% ad-hoc and it's giving me a very dirty feeling.

> {noformat}
> AB_JOLOKIA_PORT : Port to use (Default: 8778)
> {noformat}
> might worth to also take care of all other parameters?

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-25170) Using empty profile in CDK 3.2+ server adapter should work with cdk's default profile (minishift)
by Ondrej Dockal (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-25170?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugi... ]
Ondrej Dockal closed JBIDE-25170.
---------------------------------
Verified on devstudio 11.1.0.GA-v20171026-1022-B1486.
Just another thing I want to note, There is default value 'minishift' filled in label profile in wizard during cdk server adding, which make everything more clear. So I did not test this with empty profile name.

> I have two running CDK 3.2+ server adapters, and if I operate the one where profile is not defined (I would expect that it is set to default one aka 'minishift') it works with actually active profile.
