I'm confused - the jira says this bug is present in Alpha1 and
above. Isn't this issue present on all versions of BrowserSim until now ?
You
mean FAQ? If yes, there are two questions (the latest ones) - one for Alpha1 and abovem,
one for 3.3.x.
1) Do we really need an SDK instead of a JRE ?! Why?
I have no
idea why, but SWT+Safari do not work with JRE 7, and do work with JDK 7.
2) Why aren't we looking up the default Installed JRE in eclipse
preferences and use that instead ?
That would be too complicated, for example if
user has JVM 5 as default, the BrowserSim wont work. Now BrowserSim tries to use the same
JVM as Eclipse.
3) seems like we should have a preference for the browsersim to be
able to control which installed JRE to use (Future rev)
Probably yes. This would
also resolve the problem that BrowserSim does not work with 64b JVM. Need to think about
it...
4) What happened between Java 6 and Java 7 that made this break ?!
I do not know. These changes are in one of Java 7 updates. My old JRE 7 worked with
BrowserSim with no problems until I updated it.
...i'm ok with putting the patch in IFF browsersim is going to be
rebuilt anyway - Nick ?
Than let's fix it in Alpha2 - the patch does not make a
big difference.

I run into the same problem as reported in
https://community.jboss.org/message/755274
From what I read in
https://community.jboss.org/wiki/BrowserSimFAQ, I have iTunes and
quicktime installed and yet I get
!https://community.jboss.org/servlet/JiveServlet/download/755274-64810/browsersim_error.png!
*Update:*
This is an upstream issue:
