I just noticed news info is not that up to date (June 2016)

Hi all,
As I'm reading the PDD, I've seen multiple occurence where Red Hat Central
is meant to show news inside the Desktop IDE.
Since PDD is not public, might be useful to give context here:
This line is mentioned 3-4 times "with an initial “Red Hat Central” page
containing the latest and greatest Red Hat developer news" which I do not
see as anything but Red Hat Central as it is today is shown to show news
and getting started content.
I question the value of for several reasons:
* As I'm opening a code editor, I most likely want to code, and don't want
to be disturbed by news. It's not the right time for me to read them
* Space is lost where we could use it to make simpler UI/UX and give more
assistance to users
* Typically, I expect news by mail or social media and that's all and
enough, and maybe even already too much. When I want to read news, I go
through the one I get via this channel and I don't feel the need for more.
* Showing news in tools is pretty unusual. Most apps (web browsers,
mail/IM clients, image manipulation software...) don't do it and it doesn't
prevent them to be successful.
Do we have metrics of how often are the news link currently clicked in
JBoss Tools/JBDS ?
last three years: ~500.000 views, about 35000 click-throughs.
But actually it seem like something broke in our data gathering since
sometime last year -
or we somehow broke it :/
But not sure what the "news" problem is since for a while now it just
shows a single line.
Btw. Eclipse Neon does this now too by default via the RSS feed feature.
So is it the single line in Central you object to or that you think the
PDD is asking for more lines to be used ? (which I don't think it is asking
for actually)
