[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-13768) Server Fails to Start (Kinda) - Mixing of JRE6/JDK7 on Mac OS X
by Martin Malina (JIRA)
Martin Malina reassigned JBIDE-13768:
-------------------------------------
Assignee: Burr Sutter (was: Martin Malina)
Burr, I tried again to reproduce your weirdness, but failed to do so.
The difference on my end is that in my case "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java" is Java 7, not Java 6. Why haven't you upgraded your system java to java 7 yet anyway? Apple has disabled the Java plugin in Safari for everybody who still has Java 6. I believe OS X should have offered you the upgrade long time ago.
But anyway, I am still unable to make the server fail to start.
I was using JBDS 7.0.0.Alpha1 B124, EAP 6.1.0.ER3, "/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java" for JBDS installation: java version "1.7.0_17".
And then I added the EAP server using the default Java 1.7 on my mac - again 1.7.0_17.

> My Mac has both the Apple Java 6 and Oracle Java 7 installed.
> If I take the defaults from the JBDS Installer, allowing it to pick a Java 6 JRE, but then manually adding a server with Java 7 - the IDE fails to see that the server started.
> Installation1.png - a screenshot of the defaults selected by the installer.
> This places the following in my jbdevstudio.ini
> -vm
> /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin/Contents/Home/bin/java
> and in About - Installation Details - Configuration:
> -vm
> /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework
> Adding a New Server (EAP 6 or 6.1) - but selecting Java 7 for the Runtime - is where the IDE fails to see that the server has started (runtime_JDK_7_selection.png)
> The result is a failed start (failed_start.png)

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-13935) Show message, when quickstart couldn't be imported due to internet unavailability
by Radim Hopp (JIRA)
Radim Hopp created JBIDE-13935:
----------------------------------
Summary: Show message, when quickstart couldn't be imported due to internet unavailability
Key: JBIDE-13935
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-13935
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: central
Affects Versions: 4.1.0.Alpha1
Reporter: Radim Hopp
Assignee: Snjezana Peco
Priority: Minor
Fix For: 4.1.0.Alpha2
When trying to import quickstart without internet connection it seems like nothing happened (only "silent" error is thrown in Error Log).
I think it would be good if some message like "Couldn't download quickstart" would be shown.

> On the second page of the new OpenShift application wizard there is a typo (graphic attached). It should read 'Create and set up a server for easy publishing'.
> In this case 'set up' is being used as a verb so two words, when it is used as a noun or adjective then it is one word.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-13932) Remove connections from OpenShift Explorer tab on IDE (re)start
by Andre Dietisheim (JIRA)

@Michelle: If you check "Save password" when creating the connectino you dont even have to double click and fill the connection dialog. The connection gets populated with the applications as soon as you simply expand it in the OpenShift Explorer. Agree?

> On (re)starting the IDE, previously active connections show in the OpenShift Explorer tab. I think this is probably intended behaviour and not a bug. But I do not think this behaviour is useful for users.
> On (re)starting the IDE, the connections listed in the OpenShift Explorer tab are inactive. To get active connections, a user has to click the 'Connect to OpenShift' icon and still pick a previous or new connection. So I cannot see the benefit to the user of listing previously active connections in the OpenShift Explorer tab.
> I think it would be simpler from a user perspective if the OpenShift Explorer tab was always empty when the IDE starts (since no connections are active). Then, as currently happens, when the user clicks the 'Connect to OpenShift' icon they will see the list of previous connections and can choose from these or pick a new one.
