Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBDS-2086:
-------------------------------------------
Nick - central is not a welcome screen in eclipse sense and there is not enough room on it
to cater for 3rd party plugins welcome content.
Snjezna - yes, but I would prefer we don't make it as crowded by default as eclipse
default welcome screen is.
I've added a mockup trying to outline what I'm thinking we could do - the intent
is just to show that there are some third party content and
provide a way to get to it while still keeping a simple getting started experience that
leads to jboss central.
JBDS Welcome screen should accept contributions from 3rd party extras
like JRebel, Spring, FindBugs, PMD

Key: JBDS-2086
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-2086
Project: Developer Studio (JBoss Developer Studio)
Issue Type: Sub-task
Security Level: Public(Everyone can see)
Components: Welcome
Reporter: Max Rydahl Andersen
Fix For: 5.x, 6.x
Attachments: simplelayout.bmml, simplelayout.png
When third party plugins contribute a welcome screen they are currently not shown.
I think it would have value that we provide a way to have users get access to this
content similar to what Eclipse EPP packages does.
Is it possible to simply add a "More Welcome content..." button in case of more
welcome screens being available and switch to a page that has a grid layout of the
contributed welcome screen elements ?
Or maybe add a scrollable panel at the bottom of the welcome screen showing the
contribute elements "sliding by ?"
