JSF wizard shows wrong minimal Servlet version 3.0 instead of 2.5 for JSF 2 projects
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBIDE-8334
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-8334
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: JSF
Reporter: Denis Golovin
Assignee: Alexey Kazakov
Spec says in "Compatibility with and Migration from JavaServer Faces 1.2" section:
*Related Technologies*
Other Java™ Platform Specifications
JSF is based on the following Java API specifications:
■ JavaServer Pages™ Specification, version 2.1 (JSP™) <http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/>
■ *Java™ Servlet Specification, version 2.5* (Servlet) <http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/>
■ Java™2 Platform, Standard Edition, version 5.0 <http://java.sun.com/j2se/>
■ Java™2 Platform, Enterprise Edition, version 5.0 <http://java.sun.com/j2ee/>
■ JavaBeans™ Specification, version 1.0.1 <http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/docs/spec.html>
■ JavaServer Pages™ Standard Tag Library, version 1.2 (JSTL) <http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/jstl/>
Therefore, a JSF container must support all of the above specifications. This requirement allows faces applications to be
portable across a variety of JSF implementations.
In addition, JSF is designed to work synergistically with other web-related Java APIs, including:
■ Portlet Specification, 1.0 JSR-168 <http://www.jcp.org/jsr/detail/168.jsp>
■ Portlet Specification, 2.0 JSR-286 <http://www.jcp.org/jsr/detail/286.jsp>
■ JSF Portlet Bridge Specification, JSR-301 <http://www.jcp.org/jsr/detail/301.jsp>

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBIDE-8433) Warning message for JSF2 + Servlet 2.5 projects should be more friendly.
by Alexey Kazakov (JIRA)
Warning message for JSF2 + Servlet 2.5 projects should be more friendly.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBIDE-8433
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-8433
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: JSF
Affects Versions: 3.2.0.CR1
Reporter: Alexey Kazakov
Assignee: Viacheslav Kabanovich
Fix For: 3.2.1, 3.3.0.M1
1. Open New JSF Project wizard.
2. Select JSF2 environment and fill all the required fields. Press next.
3. Select Servlet Version: 2.5. There is "Servlet version must be at least 3.0" warning message. I think the massage is not absolutely correct.
Let's change it to something more friendly since JSF 2 requires servlet 2.5 or higher but we should recommend use Servlet version 3.0.
I suggest use 3.0 by default but show this warning only if user selects 2.4 or lower. And let's change the warning message to "Servlet version must be at least 2.5" or something like this.
Slava is it easy to implement or we get the message from WTP JSF 2 facet?

[JBoss JIRA] Created: (JBIDE-8462) Ensure that the JSF Project wizard opens the Web Development perspective
by Brian Fitzpatrick (JIRA)
Ensure that the JSF Project wizard opens the Web Development perspective
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JBIDE-8462
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-8462
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: JSF
Affects Versions: 3.2.0.Final
Reporter: Brian Fitzpatrick
Assignee: Alexey Kazakov
Fix For: 3.2.1, 3.3.0.M1
This task is an extension of JBDS-1554. When creating a new JSF Project, we need to make sure that the Web Development perspective is set as the "final" and "preferred" perspective ID. This can be done by updating the JSF Project wizard's "newWizard" extension point and setting the "preferredPerspectives" and "finalPerspective" properties. In order to see these properties, you'll need to grab the Eclipse SDK and Eclipse Platform SDKs to be installed if they aren't already or they won't appear as options in the plugin editor.
This will help make sure that the correct perspective is opened when a user creates a new JSF Project from the new JBDS Welcome Screen.

Need to figure out what's missing on this slave that's causing builds to consistently fail here.

If someone can posit some guesses (xulrunner version? java version? maven version?) I can check the slave's contents.
