[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-17842) local-jvm jmx monitor jmx provider freezing UI

[~olpf], could you provide some steps to reproduce this? Anything specific that triggers this? I just tried starting JBoss AS 7.1 and then clicking around and couldn't replicate this. Also, what platform are you on?

> I reported that sometimes eclipse is freezing when jboss is synchronizing or starting and somebody told me to do a jstack on the eclipse process. Here is the ouput. Eclipse is totaly freezed with circle mouse pointer and in the right bottom corner "Starting JBoss AS 7.1: (0%)" is displayed. But JBoss is running in behind (my web app can be used).

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-17844) Server –> Show in JMX Navigator does not show the server, just opens the view
by Martin Malina (JIRA)
Martin Malina created JBIDE-17844:
-------------------------------------
Summary: Server –> Show in JMX Navigator does not show the server, just opens the view
Key: JBIDE-17844
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-17844
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: jmx, server
Affects Versions: 4.2.0.Beta3
Environment: JBDS 8.0.0.Beta3 B172
Reporter: Martin Malina
Assignee: Rob Stryker
When you start a server and then right-click it in the server view and select Show in JMX Navigator, the JMX Navigator view will be opened for you and you will be taken there, but you will only be shown the 3 top level elements.
You should really be taken straight to the given server in that view. And possibly even connect to it - right now it stays disconnected.
Interesting is that when you do it again, you will be taken to the server correctly.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-17842) local-jvm jmx monitor jmx provider freezing UI
by Rob Stryker (JIRA)
Rob Stryker commented on JBIDE-17842:
-------------------------------------
I've noticed 3 things so far:
1) there's an over-eager synchronized somewhere in the stacktrace. It's possible (but not really a strong argument) that this is the cause, or at least contributes
2) The line that's freezing is a call to parseInt (??) during the jps command to get process information. We never had a chance to refactor out the jps stuff, but this still doesn't make a lot of sense. I can't see from the jstack why a call to jps and then parseInt would be freezing.
3) The jps is being done when the bundle starts. This could easily be done asynchronously instead, and in fact should be.
