[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3364) Include JBT sources in JBDS source zip
by Nick Boldt (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-3364?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-3364:
----------------------------------
Because both JBDS and the upstream JBT projects are under the EPL license, we need to continue to provide JBT sources in a raw format (not just an installable plugin) for license compliance.
Therefore as much as I'd like to MOVE the sources from JBT to JBDS, we cannot; instead I can COPY them into JBDS.

> 1. Include the contents of the JBT source zip inside the JBDS one so all the sources for everything in JBDS (except third party stuff) can be seen in a single artifact.
> 2. Ensure that the release guide has a step for pushing this zip to the FTP site, even for service releases.

For example, http://tools.jboss.org/downloads/jbosstools/luna/4.2.0.Final.html#zips -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/jboss/files/JBossTools/jbosstools4.2.x/jb...
Therefore as much as I'd like to MOVE the sources from JBT to JBDS, we cannot; instead I can COPY them into JBDS.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3361) Cannot install JBDS 8.0.2.GA in offline mode
by Max Rydahl Andersen (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-3361?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBDS-3361:
-------------------------------------------
the installer.jar does not get released everytime and in future is not going to be just one updatesite so just give up on using installer jar for it ;)
And to be clear, we should *NOT* nest JBDS TP into the JBDS Update site - the suggestion is (as I understand it) that we make an updatesite *zip* that composite JBDS TP and JBDS update site.
Correct ? Then +1 for that idea, I would like to see the size difference of this though.

{quote}I'm not convinced this would help much... Do our user really look at this "About" dialog?{quote}
I agree with [~mickael_istria], It is not worth the efforts, in Central it would be more visible

[JBoss JIRA] (JBTIS-399) Cannot install JBDS-IS earlyaccess in offline mode
by Nick Boldt (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBTIS-399?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Nick Boldt commented on JBTIS-399:
----------------------------------
If we nest the JBDS TP inside the JBDS update site (like you do for JBDS IS) then yes, your offline install path would be simpler as you'd only need *TWO* zips: JBDS + JBDS IS
If we don't (waiting on a +1 from someone on JBDS-3361 before I proceed) then your offline install path is to use *THREE* zips: JBDS TP + JBDS + JBDS IS.
As you won't depend on JBDS 8.1 until closer to your 8.0.2 GA, you should prolly set a fixversion here of 8.0.2 and go nag Denis and Max in JBDS-3361 to +1 it. :D

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3364) Include JBT sources in JBDS source zip
by Nick Boldt (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-3364?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.... ]
Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-3364:
----------------------------------
You already asked this on the jbds-pm-list thread, but here we go again.
The current JBDS installer-src.zip contains the sources needed to build the installer & update site. That is, it's a zip of jbdevstudio-product. It does not include JBT sources or binaries since those are fetched at build-time.
The JBDS update site zip contains source bundles, since those are fetched at build time.
Neither zip artifact contains the raw sources of JBT.
