[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-13835) Improve publish script (split? Move to maven?)
by Mickael Istria (JIRA)
Mickael Istria commented on JBIDE-13835:
----------------------------------------
Because when building the aggregator, we don't have access to individual components sources, so we have to get find from somewhere.

> Publish script deals with a lot of different and not-always-related things. It makes it difficult to maintain it. We should think about some improvements such as
> * different conventions from different stream
> * components vs aggregate
> * devstudio vs jbosstools.
> Or,
> * Make publishing part of a "mvn deploy" step.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3297) Download/Import Existing OpenShift Project
by Burr Sutter (JIRA)
Burr Sutter commented on JBDS-3297:
-----------------------------------
[~maxandersen] As you say "at least if STI is being used" - at this moment, it is unclear to me how the OpenShift integration will shape up - it could be that the JBDS end-user is completely ignorant of Docker while working with OpenShift v3 via our Tools OR it could be that the JBDS end-user is somewhat like the OpenShift v3 CLI end-user, who is aware of Docker.

>
> Use Case #1 - Download/Import Existing OpenShift Project
> a) Assume OpenShift is started remotely and provides an entrypoint URL (e.g. http://localhost:8080/osapi/v1beta1/projects)
> b) Assume end-user is logged in (ignore auth for now)
> c) Assume OpenShift already has some deployed "projects", this "project" definition includes the buildconfig, deployconfig, docker image, source git URL, routes and services.
> d) Eclipse user will open a dialog and enter the URL from step a
> e) Eclipse user will see a list of "things" associated with "projects" from step 1c
> "things"
> f) Embedded in one of those things is a Git URL - that will be displayed to the user who will agree to git clone it [1f]
> g) If the downloaded items include a Maven project, the Eclipse user will see a newly configured Eclipse project based on Maven with the appropriately configured facets
> h) If there is no pom.xml, the Eclipse user will see a newly configured generic Eclipse project containing the downloaded files
> i) It is expected that a Maven-based Java project will build locally (leveraging Maven Central and/or maven.repository.redhat.com)
> j) It is expected that a Maven-based Java project will deploy to a localhost EAP/Wildfly or a locally running Docker container:
> docker run -it -p 8080:8080 openshift/wildfly-8-centos
> [1f] https://github.com/openshift/origin/blob/master/examples/sample-app/appli...

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3285) Git: Easy Import
by Mickael Istria (JIRA)
Mickael Istria commented on JBDS-3285:

bundles/org.jboss.tools.easymport.
We could move them to their related repo (javaee, maven, jst, aerogear...)

> As a Java EE developer, in some cases using Git for the first time (or only familiar with command line git), I find it very difficult to clone and import a project correctly into JBDS, having the appropriate facets configured, if it has a maven pom.xml, correctly setting the build path, where it is easily deployable to a localhost EAP instance.
> The mission here is to make the Git experience much more user friendly.
> Progress/Status (updated progressively):
> {quote}
> Easymport framework has been contributed to e4 (Platform Incubator): in http://git.eclipse.org/c/e4/org.eclipse.e4.ui.git/tree/bundles , see all org.eclipse.e4.ui.importer* . You can install it in your IDE from http://download.eclipse.org/e4/snapshots/org.eclipse.e4.ui . The entry-points are either the new menu "File > Import projects from folder..." or from legacy import wizard under "General > Local folder(s) as project into workspace".
> We have working extensions that allow to import Java EE & Maven: https://github.com/jbosstools/jbosstools-playground/tree/master/plugins (install from http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/builds/staging/jbosstools-playground... ) , that we plan to contribute upstream when projects such as m2e and WTP when the framework seems mature enough.
> There is not yet an easy link from the EGit wizard to the Easymport one, nor an easy link from SVN wizard to Easymport.
> There is almost no chance that this can be included in Eclipse IDE for Mars release in June. But we could already think about including it in next JBoss Tools and JBoss Developer Studio milestones, so that we'd get more feedback. At this point, feedback from users and adopters is the key point.
> I invite you to give it a try, and to report issues here.

---------------------------------------------
maybe i'm missing something, but why are we not just generating the source zip from the actual source as we do for the projects ?
Why do we need to go to github to fetch sources we already should have ?

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-19352) kitchensink-backbone example demands javaee-6.0-with-hibernate:pom:6.3.2.GA
by Radim Hopp (JIRA)
Radim Hopp created JBIDE-19352:
----------------------------------
Summary: kitchensink-backbone example demands javaee-6.0-with-hibernate:pom:6.3.2.GA
Key: JBIDE-19352
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-19352
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: central, project-examples
Affects Versions: 4.3.0.Alpha1
Environment: JBDS 9.0.0.Alpha1
Reporter: Radim Hopp
In import wizard of kitchensink-backbone example (JBoss Central -> Strat From Sample -> Mobile Applications -> kitchensink-backbone) is shown warning of missing maven repositories:
http://i.imgur.com/v4I5PCm.png
The error is, that it cannot resolve org.jboss.bom:jboss-javaee-6.0-with-hibernate:pom:6.3.2.GA.
After importing this example, it has no errors, because in pom.xml is demanded different bom: org.jboss.bom *.eap*:jboss-javaee-6.0-with-hibernate:pom:6.3.2.GA.
