[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3373) Remove org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.jonas plugin from JBDS
by Rob Stryker (JIRA)
Rob Stryker commented on JBDS-3373:
-----------------------------------
It's a standard generic server contributed by WTP. We don't *need* it but it doesn't hurt anything. The plugin is tiny, and has no .class files at all. Just adds servertype and runtime type to eclipse.
I'm ok with removal but I don't think it's necessary. But sure, can get rid if we want

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3372) Adding -Xverify:none into jbdevstudio.ini
by Denis Golovin (JIRA)
Denis Golovin commented on JBDS-3372:

"Bytecode verification ensures that the bytecode contains many of the security checks mandated by the Java Language Specification. Omitting the verification step could permit execution of insecure Java code."
Do we want gain 15 seconds and have a security hole?

> Base on Optimizer for Eclipse results (http://zeroturnaround.com/free/optimizer-for-eclipse/) -Xverify:none can save JBDS startup time significantly (it reports 15 seconds saving to me)
> Can we add this switch into jbdevstudio.ini ?

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3373) Remove org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.jonas plugin from JBDS
by Max Rydahl Andersen (JIRA)
Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBDS-3373:
-------------------------------------------
just to understand this fully - does it hurt anything technically ? Was the plugin removed from eclipse wtp ?
The reason why we have the list of servers individually listed is that in the past wtp server features included semi-broken jboss server adapters - thus we moved to include the server adapters individually instead of the global feature. The intent was that we would just take all the server adapters *minus* jboss servers so things would be pretty much aligned on jboss tools vs jbds.
So for me I would say we should just continue this praxis unless there are some technical reason to remove server adapters we just bundle to have alignment.
