I believe it was fixed day before I reported this issue (see https://github.com/jbdevstudio/jbdevstudio-product/commit/0962de4d9ce7500...). It seems I used old installer to test JBDS-IS.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-19754) Red Deer using very old target platforms from Eclipse 4.3 (Kepler)

OK, I've removed those job config options since you don't need / use them.
Next question:
Is there are reason that you perform 3 builds in your job config?
* clean install -f pom.xml -Dmaven.test.skip=true -DskipITests=true
* deploy -f archetype/pom.xml -DskipTests
* verify -f pom.xml -DskipTests
Seems to me that the last build is redundant to the first... or should that one have tests ENABLED?

> Noticed today that the RedDeer master branch job, https://jenkins.mw.lab.eng.bos.redhat.com/hudson/job/RedDeer_master/ , uses TARGET_PLATFORM_VERSION = 4.30.6.Final and TARGET_PLATFORM_VERSION_MAXIMUM = 4.32.0.Final, which are from the JBoss Tools 4.1 (Eclipse 4.3 Kepler) days.
> Shouldn't you be building with Eclipse 4.5 Mars, or at least Eclipse 4.4 Luna?

> When you go through Servers view -> New Server -> EAP 6.1 -> New Runtime and then click "Download and install runtime...", it won't do anything.
> If you go through Preferences -> Server -> Runtime Environments -> Add -> EAP 6.1+ and then click the Download button, it will work.
> This issue applies to both JBDS 8.1.0.GA and JBoss Tools 4.3.0.Alpha2 testing build, but I doubt we will be able to fix this for 4.2.x.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-19757) Consider using main JBT site for server discovery
by Nick Boldt (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-19757?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugi... ]
Nick Boldt commented on JBIDE-19757:
------------------------------------
We keep the site.xml around because the old WTP server adapter discovery required it: the old adapter couldn't parse regular p2 sites (or composite sites!) and needed the site.xml to define which feature mapped to the required category name.
So, if your perf tests are accurate, then +1 for:
* trashing site.xml from the JBT aggregate site,
* removing the webtools site build,
* symlinkin from http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/webtools/mars/ into http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/mars/development/updates/.
Did you test the new server adapter discovery against a *composite* site, rather than just an aggregate site like http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/mars/snapshots/builds/jbosstools-bui... ?
If composites still don't work, we can instead symlink to http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/static/mars/development/updates/core... but that will mean having to update the symlink every time there's a new dev milestone release; I'd prefer (if possible) to just link to the latest available milestone (and then we only need to change the pointer when .Final is released).

> With https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=434185 , WTP Server Discovery mechanism was granted a new strategy which allows to rely on regular p2 metadata instead of a site.xml.
> Support for this was already merged in server ( https://github.com/jbosstools/jbosstools-server/commit/2d3cc63a9b67753ad9... )
> In order to save an artifact to manage (the webtools p2 repository), we could use this mechanism and consider contributing directly the main JBT URL to webtools discovery.
> However, server discovery also keeps older strategies and since we produce invalid site.xml files, this is currently failing
> {code}

> {code}
> because we are lines specifying bundle but no version in the site.xml.
> [~nickboldt] What are those site.xml useful for? Could we get rid of them?

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-19637) Runtime download not working from New Server dialog
by Rob Stryker (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-19637?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugi... ]
Rob Stryker commented on JBIDE-19637:

If spacebar works, then its obvious the selection listener isn't missing. This somehow feels like an swt bug, because there's no reason for a click not to register the selection listener, but a spacebar does register it.
We did find a workaround if we always enable the hyperlink. The problem with that is that then if a user clicks the hyperlink on a server that has no corresponding downloads declared, they'll just see an empty wizard with no choices.... which isn't very user-friendly.
I wonder if [~snjeza] has a mac, and would be able to dig into this? She's usually very good at discovering root causes of weird bugs, especially down in SWT layer.
