Yes, maybe two connectors is a better solution but anyway it's not for 9.0.0 IMO.

> In the Software/Update tab of Central in JBDS 9.0.0.Beta2, I can see AngularJS for Web Tools even without checking "Enable Early Access".
> AFAIK, AngularJS tooling should be early access only.
> Once I check the early access checkbox, it will suddenly turn yellow marking it as early access.
> This only happens in JBDS. In JBoss Tools, it is not displayed unless you check the early access checkbox.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-19637) Runtime download hyperlink not working from New Server dialog on Mac
by Martin Malina (JIRA)
[ https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-19637?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugi... ]
Martin Malina commented on JBIDE-19637:
---------------------------------------
So, after applying the patch, I see this:
1) open server view, click hyperlink to create new server (I expect this usecase may still fail)
- this still fails - clicking the Download runtime link does not work
2) Open server view, right click, select new -> server
- this is fixed - I can click Download runtime and then click on a link to WildFly homepage and it will still work even though it's a second link in a row
3) File -> New -> Server
- this is fixed - same as 2)
I'm sorry to say it, but in fact this is not really a great improvement, because nobody really complained about case 2) and 3) - the biggest issue here is 1).

> When you go through Servers view -> New Server -> EAP 6.1 -> New Runtime and then click "Download and install runtime...", it won't do anything.
> If you go through Preferences -> Server -> Runtime Environments -> Add -> EAP 6.1+ and then click the Download button, it will work.
> This issue applies to both JBDS 8.1.0.GA and JBoss Tools 4.3.0.Alpha2 testing build, but I doubt we will be able to fix this for 4.2.x.

[~rob.stryker], bingo! I did read through the upstream BZ, but I didn't notice anything along the lines that one link would work but the next not.
So that's exactly what seems to be happening here: If I go through File -> New -> Server, then I can click Download and install runtime and it will work. Same if I right-click in the Servers view -> New Server. But if I click the hyperlink in Servers view to create the server, the consequent click on a hyperlink will fail.
Likewise, if I go through File -> New -> Server and get all the way to the Download runtime dialog and then click another link (e.g. for WildFly homepage), it will fail.
All of this was before applying the patch. Now I'm gonna apply the PR.

IMHO the best solution here is to ADD A SECOND connector to the EA site, which complements what's in the Central connector... rather than just changing it.
But the problem with that is that if we have quickstarts which rely on ONE connectorId, we can't have them rely on one-or-two-if-EA-enabled. Still, I think it's a better UX experience to have two Angular-related entries in Central/EA than one that changes (slightly).

This issue comes up about once per milestone. I've opened it, QE has opened it.
It's just confusing that the nearly-the-same connector appears in both Central and EA.
But as [~maxandersen] sees no problem with this...
{quote}I'm going to close [ JBIDE-18699 ] as wont fix since early access is enabled to show that you are installing early access stuff thus it is/will/can be different than the default stuff.{quote}
... I don't think we'll be fixing this for 9.0. **shrug**

I agree it's confusing and we see the same issue (AngularJS is in both centrals) pops up from time to time in our JIRA. Maybe it's better to rename it...
