[~rick_wagner] In the above workflow, deploying happens automatically upon the adapter being created. But then picking Publish.. in the context menu of the server adapter manually, does exactly the same, there's no difference to what I did above.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-4070) DevStudio / external OpenShift fails deployment

Rick Wagner commented on JBDS-4070:

Hi Andre,
Thank you for the screen shots and description-- very informative.
I would guess (but am not certain) that the user took a different trail starting around step 6.
I think what the user did was deploy only EAP (no user applications) to Docker running on CDK. I imagine they then viewed that EAP instance in the server view and tried to right click on the EAP instance and deploy that way.
Can you please look around that workflow to see if you can find anything?
Thank you, and I apologize for not having a better description. Next time I'll ask for a screencast.
Thanks,
Rick

[~rick_wagner] I'd love to understand what went wrong here. But I cant replicate.
Here's what I did:
# ASSERT: make sure that you have an EAP based application running in OpenShift 3 (CDK)
# EXE: git clone //github.com/jboss-developer/jboss-eap-quickstarts
# EXE: File > Import > Maven > Existing Maven Projects and pointed it to kitchensink-ear within the cloned repo
# ASSERT: this results in 3 new projects in the workspace:
!kitchensink-ear-projects.png!
# EXE: create a new OpenShift server adapter: File > New > Other > Server > Server > OpenShift 3 Server Adapter
# EXE: pick connection to your OpenShift 3 Server adapter and configure the adapter to use the kitchensink-ear and deploy to the eap app in OpenShift:
!new-openshift-server-adapter.png!
Just to document what the wizard automatically used (I didnt change anything), here are the settings that I can see in the server adapter editor:
!eap-app-server-adapter-settings.png!
# EXE: in the context menu of the OpenShift server adapter, pick Show In > Web Browser
Result:
You see the kitchensink web-app, everything was deployed well. There were no deployment errors
!kitchensink-ear-deployed-succcessfully.png!
What am I missing?
