[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3681) Provide ability to change installation target location
by Denis Golovin (JIRA)
Denis Golovin created JBDS-3681:
-----------------------------------
Summary: Provide ability to change installation target location
Key: JBDS-3681
URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-3681
Project: Developer Studio (JBoss Developer Studio)
Issue Type: Feature Request
Components: installer
Affects Versions: 9.1.0.CR1
Reporter: Denis Golovin
Assignee: Denis Golovin
Would be good to be able to change target folder for installation. It assumes all conflicts that might be between two installs should be resolved during installation.
Currently only one virtual box and vagrant version could be installed.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-21871) Weird message in error log when connecting to cdk openshift - Unauthorized
by Andre Dietisheim (JIRA)
Andre Dietisheim edited comment on JBIDE-21871 at 3/15/16 2:07 PM:
-------------------------------------------------------------------
in the further discussion [~mmalina] tried with the OpenShift 3.2 CDK which sits on a different IP (10.3.2.2 vs 10.1.2.2 for the 3.1 CDK) and still had no dialog popping up. Inspecting the secure storage showed no username nor password:
!secure-storage.png!
Which seems utterly weird. This definitely shouldnt work and one should get the connection dialog popping up to provide username/pw.
Removing the secure storage entries though made the connection dialog appear. This definitely needs further investigations.

@AndreDietisheim I'm pretty sure this was the first time ever that I had this 10.3 ip
@AndreDietisheim the one set in https://github.com/redhat-developer-tooling/openshift-vagrant/tree/master...
Andre Dietisheim

@MartinMalina easy to verify in prefs, can you see the entry in the secure storage?
Martin Malina
6:21 PM
@AndreDietisheim I have this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvf3g0qtx6v1m73/Screenshot%202016-03-15%2018.21...
@AndreDietisheim so yes, it is there. but how did it get there? and shouldn't the password be there?
Martin Malina
6:24 PM
@AndreDietisheim I deleted the secure storage (I wanted to only delete the one entry, but it seems I deleted everything), restarted IDE and now it shows me the wizard
Martin Malina

@AndreDietisheim and same for the other cdk - it too now shows the dialog and requires password. so I really have no idea how it worked without it today, since it was the first time I started the cdk with ip 10.3.2.2
Martin Malina is going home

@MartinMalina that's utterly weird, I dont expect this to work without any username nor pw

> Everytime I start cdk and then want to connect to the openshift instance in OpenShift Explorer view, I get this info message in Error Log:
> Unauthorized. Trying to reauthenticate
> All the time I was thinking that the connection is actually not working, but then I tried to create a project and it worked.
> I can see a few issues here:
> 1. Why is this info message displayed even though the connection is actually established? It's confusing.
> 2. There is no clear indication if a connection is established or not - could we do something about it? If there is an existing project, then you can see it. But currently there is none for the openshift-dev user by default. What makes is worse is the fact that once you start cdk, there is a little arrow next to the openshift connection as if you could expand it. When you do that, it will expand 1 line with "Loading.." and then it will suddenly disappear, so it really looks like something is wrong.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-21821) JBT 4.3.0.Final / JBDS 9.0.0.GA target platforms include org.eclipse.egit.importer.ui 4.0, which installs jgit 4.0; this breaks egit 4.1.1 views when JBT 4.3.0 or JBDS 9.0.0 are installed into Mars.2

Nick: can we re-test with the /staging/ URLs? they contain something closer to what will be actually in the live /stable ones
the prototype used a direct link to eclipse.org's egit site rather than our mirror; should be the same but better to verify
Marian: ok I'm on it
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/mars/staging/updates/
https://devstudio.redhat.com/9.0/staging/updates/ those ones right?
And I am supposed to use still Abridged JBT right?
Nick: yes
you should even see Integration Stack stuff in Central with those :D
yes
just want to verify that a default JBT or JBDS BYOE install doesn't break egit because of having BOTH jgit 4.0.3 and 4.1.1 installed
should only get egit 4.1.1 (and the egit.ui.importer 4.1.1, not 4.0.0)
Marian: ok I tested it with staging URLs and it is working.

> Installing Red Hat JBoss Developer Studio 9.0.0GA into a fresh Eclipse 4.5.2 (for Eclipse Committers) causes Egit to break.
> # Install Eclipse 4.5.2
> # In the Marketplace, search for "jboss developer studio"
> # You get a single result: Red Hat JBoss Developer Studio 9.0.0 GA
> # Install it
> # Restart
> # Observe: the EGit views and preferences are missing
> # Observe: you get messages in the Eclipse error log concerning a dependency version incompatibility
> -----
> JBT 4.3.0.Final / JBDS 9.0.0.GA target platforms include org.eclipse.egit.importer.ui 4.0.0.201506090130-r (Mars.1 version), which installs jgit 4.0.3.201509231615-r (Mars.1 version); this breaks egit 4.1.1 views when installed into Mars.2, because Mars.2 site does not include org.eclipse.egit.ui.importer 4.1.1.201511131810-r, and you confuse egit when you have both jgit 4.0 and 4.1 installed, disabling views and preferences.
> Solution proposed is to add org.eclipse.egit.ui.importer 4.1.1.201511131810-r to the composite site from which JBT 4.3.0.Final and JBDS 9.0.0.GA are installed, so that when org.eclipse.egit.ui.importer is installed, p2 can select the 4.1.1 version instead of the 4.0.0 version.
> I would want to pull a mirror of http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-4.1.1/ onto download.jboss.org if we're cool with this solution.
