[~fbricon] master is already not using the workaround any more, only 4.3.x is. Since master is (as you pointed out) using swt 3.105 we should require 3.104.1 (which is the first version to have the fix) as minimum swt version I believe.

Installing from http://tools.jboss.org/downloads/jbosstools/neon/4.4.x.Nightly.html using latest Eclipse Neon M6 on FC23 I couldnt reproduce this. Installation just worked flawlessly.
Same is true when using the [4.3.1.Final update site|http://tools.jboss.org/downloads/jbosstools/mars/4.3.1.Final.html#up...] which is pointing to http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/mars/stable/updates/. Installlation worked flawlessly.
