> I noticed the problem at about 12% on the progress bar but it was still moving along at 45% when I grabbed the screenshot (attached).
> If a failure occurs, perhaps *we could change the bar from blue to red and move it to 100%* ?
> Also, should there be a call to action for the user?
> Even something simple like "*go check in C:\DeveloperPlatform\install.log for what might have happened*" would be useful here.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3731) Installer - Failure to install a component does not halt the installer's progress bar

Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-3731:

In addition to the fact that the progress bar continues, here's another related problem:

Also, should there be a call to action for the user? Even something simple like "go check in C:\DeveloperPlatform\install.log for what might have happened" would be useful here.

> See the attached screenshots - when the bug described in JBDS-3722 was encountered, the virtualbox installation status bar continued to proceed, even though the installation of the affected component had stopped. This will be confusing to the user.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3753) Installer forces using detected JDK, tries to install JBDS with the bundled Java anyway
by Nick Boldt (JIRA)
Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-3753:
----------------------------------
I believe this JIRA should be titled "if you're going to let the user use their own pre-installed JDK, then pass the path of that java.exe file to the process that invokes the JBDS installation, rather than trying to use *c:\DeveloperPlatform\jdk8\bin\java.exe* ... because that one doesn't exist if you don't first install it."

> Using bundled installer build 28 - confirmation page will not let me use the bundled JDK if it detects a pre-existing JDK somewhere else.
> Once the installation is triggered, JDK goes straight to finished (not a problem under these circumstances) but JBDS fails right away and the log says:
> {noformat}
> Fri, 01 Apr 2016 07:20:44 GMT-INFO: jbds - Execute c:\DeveloperPlatform\jdk8\bin\java.exe -DTRACE=true,-jar,C:\Users\jbossqa\AppData\Local\Temp\7zSE006.tmp\jbds.jar,C:\Users\jbossqa\AppData\Local\Temp\jbds-autoinstall.xml

> Fri, 01 Apr 2016 07:20:44 GMT-ERROR: jbds failed to install: Error: spawn c:\DeveloperPlatform\jdk8\bin\java.exe ENOENT

> So basically, I can't get it to install the bundled JDK but it will still try to use it.
