[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-20686) Preferences: No OpenShift Client binary warning dialog is shown upon restoring default preferences
by Marián Labuda (JIRA)
Marián Labuda commented on JBIDE-20686:
---------------------------------------
I don't recall how it was behaving back there, it was in 9/2015 and why I was arguing like this. At the moment, when I look at it, I agree with you. I guess something was not working pretty well with autodetection of oc binary on path or I was not aware of that feature yet at that time. Now I would consider this as rejected.

> In OpenShift 3 workbench preference page restoring default setting by clicking on a button Restore Defaults pops up a warning dialog with title "No OpenShift Client binary" and text "Could not find the OpenShift binary "oc" on your path". I would expect that choosing default settings would just clear text field with oc binary location and no dialog is shown.

Since last release, jbosstools-playground is not used any more by JBoss Tools. What's the best procedure? Should I close this Jira and ask for having the component marked as archived?

> If you restart the server adapter in debug mode ("Restart in Debug" in the context menu to your server adapter) the remote debugger is launched automatically.
> If you're not aware of this and try to launch the remote debugger entry (that was created automatically), you will face an error telling you that it cannot connect (since there's already an instance sitting on the ports). It's not obvious to the dummy user, we should improve this error-message
> When I am trying to run remote debugging of an application on OpenShift I get following error
> !!error-in-launching-remote-debugger.png! !
> {code}
> Failed to connect to remote VM
> com.sun.jdi.connect.spi.ClosedConnectionException

> *Steps to reproduce:*
> ASSERT: Have an OpenShift 3 application based on eap 6 template with server adapter and project in workspace.
> EXEC: Select "Restart in Debug" in context menu of server adapter.
> ASSERT: Server adapter is in state debugging ("[Debugging, Started]").
> EXEC: Click on Debug Remote debugger to 'server adapter name' workbench tool item to start debugging.
> RESULT: Error is shown.
> EXPECTED RESULT: The error message should tell you that there already is an instance running.

> When the server is in a project rather than in memory, persisting changes to the server (ie changing its username) will fail because the scheduling rule for starting the server does not include the ability to modify projects. This scenario will need to be identified (is server in memory or project) and a workspace job will need to be scheduled to properly persist the changes.
