[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3994) Local jbdevstudio-product build always fails to download sources
by Denis Golovin (JIRA)
Denis Golovin commented on JBDS-3994:
-------------------------------------
Have not tried to rebuild sites, everything else doesn't help. basically it is a blocker for me, because I cannot verify latest build from master.
The only workaround is to remove piece of pom.xml :)

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3761) when replacing an existing VBox install, should use the same install folder; could also ask user where they want VirtualBox installed

> I had Virtual Box 5.0.16 installed.
> The dev platform installer (build 33) decided 5.0.16 was bad, uninstalled it, and instead installed 5.0.8 into C:\DeveloperPlatform\virtualbox (where I had had it installed to the default folder, c:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox.
> As a result, my existing VB install cannot find the Guest Additions iso image.
> !vbox-install-omits-guestadditions.png!
> I suggest that since the installation of Virtual Box isn't something that is necessarily tied into the DevPlatform, it should be installed into its default folder, c:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox, rather than C:\DeveloperPlatform\virtualbox.
> Or if not, the installer could ask the user if they want to use the default folder (for reuse) or install under the DeveloperPlatform folder (for a more self-contained installation footprint).

> The target folder validator will check (synchronously) if a directory with the given path exists with every change. Using a path such as //domain/folder will trigger a check that takes about a second or two while the UI stops responding.

> Most installers have a single progress bar that shows the overall progress, and then text which explains which component is being installed right now.
> Update:
> After discussion on backlog grooming session it seems reasonable to have two progress bars instead of one. Considering size of downloaded resources and time spend for downloading/installation we might have much longer installation time than now with single progress bar. Instead we can start downloading resources and install them as soon as download is finished. That would let us run installation in sequence and avoid problems with running two MSI installer at the same timed. Also that would save some time and do installation for smaller components while download for big ones is in progress.
