> After referring through the [devsuite-installation guide#CDK Installation Failure|http://jenkinscat.gsslab.pnq.redhat.com:8080/view/Devtools/job/doc-devsuite_Installation%20Guide%20%28html-single%29/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/index.html#_cdk_installation_failure] for CDK installation failure which says install *Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)* and reinstall the installer, my CDK installation failed even after having above package and reinstalling the installer.
> I am expecting that devsuite should handle the already existing box automatically.
> Does it mean we should update the documentation saying "uninstall the previous devsuite installation" which will remove everything including box and then reinstall the installer?

> The platform installer should flag versions of Vagrant (and possibly other software) that are known to be bad. There should possibly be a black list.
> Vagrant 1.8.0 and 1.8.1 have a bunch of bugs, so they aren't recommended for CDK.

> Considering every component from currently provided stack is optional for installation there is no reason to block installation process on Target Install Folder selection page in case user has space in his profile folder name (home folder). It should be reported on Confirmation page when vagrant is selected for install. It should not block installation for OpenJDK and DevStudio only.

So this has been open for a few months now and I'm wondering if it's OK to close it. [~aurelien.pupier], are you okay with this? If I don't hear back by early next week, I'll go ahead and close it and we can reopen or just let us know if there are any other concerns around docs required.

> Personal note: I wasn't able to find by myself how do it in the Studio, I'm representing a UI-lover end-user, I asked for help on Devsuite HipChat channel

> As per JBDS-3838, we require users with space in their name to use VAGRANT_HOME environment variable. The problem is, the installer will let you proceed without validating the variable contents.
> Something like "x:\this definitely has no spaces\" will allow the user to proceed with installation, which inevitably fails. We need to validate if the path stored in the variable is valid, that the selected drive actually exists, and that there are no spaces.

> the cdk installer for MacOS installs DevStudio and the CDK into <Home>/DevelopmentSuite.
> There are a few non-optimals here:
> * Home is afaik not visible by default in Finder.
> * Furthermore applications are by default installed into Applications in MacOS.
> Possible improvements:
> In order to behave like a first class MacOS-citizen we should install DevSuite and CDK independently into Applications (or maybe CDK into Document as it isnt the application in the strict sense, it's only a Virtualbox image, a Vagrantfile etc.)
