[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-3743) Cannot use JBDS 10.2 with jdk 9 EA build 140
by Martin Malina (JIRA)
Martin Malina commented on JBDS-3743:
-------------------------------------
[~nickboldt], shouldn't this old jira be resolved? I would think so. Sure, not everything will work 100 % just now. But this JIRA was originally about a problem that has been solved since then. devstudio 11.1 is now able to start with java 9.

> Oracle changed their JDK 1.9 Early Access builds recently. Now the installed jdk reports its version as 9-ea instead of 1.9 used previously. This caused a problem with the JBDS installer: JBDS-3581
> But even if I select jdk 1.8 in the installer and change jbdevstudio.ini to point to my 1.9 installation, JBDS won't start (I'm on Mac).
> It just shows an error saying where to look for log. The log is linked here:

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-4553) Get ready for Java 9
by Nick Boldt (JIRA)
Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-4553:
----------------------------------
Note that there are various levels of "support" to be discussed here, including:
- ability to simply run the devstudio installer with JDK 9
- support devsuite installing JDK 9 on Windows/OSX
- support running Eclipse/devstudio with JDK 9 via installer / update site install
- support running Eclipse/devstudio with JDK 9 via RPM install
- support deploying projects to a JDK 9 runtime environment via Eclipse/devstudio
- support building projects w/ JDK 9 (which requires Maven 3.5.2 and potentially a new version of Tycho >= 1.1.0-SNAPSHOT)
