The hope was this would clear up the failed installation. It looks like there was a problem that is probably due to Cygwin setup still lingering in the background from the previous failed install. Is there any attempt to kill/clean up after a failed install?? I re-ran the installer after having to kill the previous version that got hung installing Cygwin. This time it completed very quickly (not sure if it actually installed anything) and told me the install completed successfully. However, the Cygwin install doesn't appear to have worked as there is no menu entry (windows shortcut) to be able to start the cygwin terminal.
