[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-24832) Some info on deprecated stuff / move to central missing in N&N
by Jeff MAURY (JIRA)
Jeff MAURY resolved JBIDE-24832.
--------------------------------
Resolution: Done
> Some info on deprecated stuff / move to central missing in N&N
> --------------------------------------------------------------
>
> Key: JBIDE-24832
> URL: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-24832
> Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: website
> Affects Versions: 4.5.0.Final
> Reporter: Martin Malina
> Assignee: Jeff MAURY
> Fix For: 4.5.0.Final
>
>
> The N&N page for 4.5.0.Final currently only has this:
> Freemarker component deprecation
> The Freemarker component has been marked deprecated as there is no more maintenance on the source code. It is still available in Red Hat Central and may be removed in the future.
> Related JIRA: JBIDE-24484
> Question 1:
> This was only deprecation? This feature was already in central and not included in the coretools feature? Just checking.
> Looks like this was the case - I found this:
> Question 2:
> Shouldn't we include a N&N note on deprecation / move of Seam 3 stuff? I think we should.
> More details on those changes here:
> JBDS-4495
> JBIDE-24379
> TL;DR: These features are both deprecated and moved to central:
> org.jboss.tools.cdi.seam.feature
> org.jboss.tools.runtime.seam.detector.feature
> We're a bit confused about the seam (2) runtime detector, we thought that was already gone. We can ignore that. What we probably want to say is that Seam 3 feature / tooling has been deprecated and moved to Central.

Checked the code and org.jboss.tools.cdi.xml and org.jboss.tools.cdi.xml.ui are related to CDI and Weld but not to Seam. We should update the description

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-24841) Remove findbugs plugin from Central
by Martin Malina (JIRA)
Martin Malina commented on JBIDE-24841:
---------------------------------------
OK, let's see what others think about this. My personal view is that users can always install plugins themselves and there's not much value in having such a thing in Central.

> I suggest we remove FindBugs connector from Central. It seems it hasn't been developed for some time now. The version we have in central is:
> edu.umd.cs.findbugs.plugin.eclipse_3.0.1.20150306-5afe4d1
> And if you look at the project's update site, that's still the latest release there is:
> Furthermore, it kind of broke for me now. I never tested it extensively. But I would create a project and then right-click -> Find Bugs -> Find Bugs. This would open a window showing progress as the project is searched for bugs. When I tried it now, no window appears. For a few seconds something shows up in the status bar. But I can't see the results anywhere.
> Since this is Central, we could do this right away - affecting devstudio 11 / jbosstools 4.5.0. But I guess we need PM approval first.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBDS-4495) Missing CDI features
by Martin Malina (JIRA)
Martin Malina commented on JBDS-4495:
-------------------------------------
Good catch, Lukáš! It's entirely possible that org.jboss.tools.cdi.xml actually is seam related and therefore we want it gone, too. But who knows. If only there was somebody on the team who actually knew anything about these plugins... Personally I would ignore it for now ;) Unless somebody knows more about this.
