[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-26381) Reduce number of cdk integration tests due to too many usage of developers.redhat.com
by Ondrej Dockal (Jira)
Ondrej Dockal commented on JBIDE-26381:
---------------------------------------
# CDK itests jobs reduced
# Maintainer of DM setup the filtering for affected accounts
# Mail sent
_Hello everyone,_
_I would like to spread awareness about possible bias introduced to download-manager (DM) statistics among quality engineers who use accounts (either redhat.com or any other domain) registered at developers.redhat.com/jboss.org and utilize them to download software via DM in CI processes (in automated tests)._
_For instance, I am using test account to download CDK via Devstudio (using DM) and run integration tests suite with downloaded bits. This happens on incoming PR, when new CDK or devstudio is released, etc._
_Also, testing matrix includes multiple OSes. Having said that, one can see that this traffic is biasing stats of DM usage. In cases like this, it is necessary to exclude such account from the statistics. _
_If you suspect or consider yourself (your team) to be using DM in this way, it will be nice to write an email to help(a)jboss.org, or if you require further assistance or escalation, get in touch with dhladky(a)redhat.com directly._
_P.S. If you think that this info should be spread to other channels (lists) as well, feel free to do so._

> During the sprint end there were recorded spikes for both developers.redhat.com site (submits) and download manager itself (requests), all of this resulting in possible statistical bias of numbers connected to these two entities. Take steps to avoid this bias:
> * Reduce number of runs of cdk.x.itests
> * Let maintainer of DM (download-manager) know to filter this traffic (based on user name account used for testing purposes) (devsuite and my testing account)
> * Inform on devtools-team subscribers about the issue.

[JBoss JIRA] (JBIDE-25289) Standalone CDK configuration jenkins job (to be used in other jobs)
by Ondrej Dockal (Jira)
Ondrej Dockal resolved JBIDE-25289.
-----------------------------------
Resolution: Won't Fix
Requires to rewrite all jobs that would have dependency to this one job into pipelines script. This is too much time demanding solution.

> Every job that uses CDK needs to utilize some steps using execute shell build steps that sets up CDK and prepare it to be used by integration tests (OS or CDK itests).
> Much easier would be to have one job, that would take care of all necessary steps required to clean up/ download/ set up and/or run CDK.

----------------------------------
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have downloaded EAP-7.1.0 server
2. Open IDE
3. Create new Remote System of type Local (and use LOCALHOST host) or use existing "Local"
4. Create new EAP 7.x server adapter
5. Use Remote option, controlled by Filessytem and shell op.
6. Assign a runtime to this server
7. Use your downloaded eap server (or download new one if you wish)
8. On Remote System Integration choose localhost as host and browse for proper Remote Server Home
9. Finish the dialog
10. ASSERT: EAP 7.x server adapter exists
11. Start server adapter
12. ASSERT: Adapter is started, console show proper remote system start up log
Actual result: Adapter is starting until it finally timeouts, problem dialog is thrown, Console shows: "'cmd' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file."
