Nick Boldt commented on JBIDE-4859:
-----------------------------------
1. Not sure I like "general purpose tools" - sounds like hammers and
screwdrivers... or like this is the "couldn't think of a better name"
category :)
2. SDK bucket can be moved to the bottom if we call it "ze JBoss Tools SDKs" or
"zat's what I call an SDK!" Seriously, if we rename "Web, XML, and Java
EE" to "Java EE, XML, and Web" we could call the SDK feature "Tooling
Sources" and it would be listed alphabetically at the end.
Or rename "Test and Performance" to "Performance, Profiling, and
Testing" and then the SDK bucket could be "Sources".
3. Is "Maven Support' really better than "Maven Integration" ? Seems to
imply there will be / should be something in that bucket other than integration plugins.
4. Could we suffix the BIRT category with " (requires BIRT 2.5)" and the Maven
category with " (Requires m2eclipse 0.9.9)" to further drive home the external
update site dependencies?
5. is "All JBoss Tools" accurate if the BIRT, Maven, etc. stuff is NOT included?
I don't have a better name suggestion; I'm just not sure it's kosher to imply
that's the all-in-one feature category if it doesn't include the stuff which
requires 3rd-party updates.
Create new categories for JBT/JBDS update sites

Key: JBIDE-4859
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-4859
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Build/Releng
Affects Versions: 3.1.0.M3
Reporter: Nick Boldt
Assignee: Max Rydahl Andersen
Priority: Blocker
Fix For: 3.1.0.CR2
Attachments: jbtupdatesitesuggestion.png, screenshot-1.jpg, Screenshot-1.png,
Screenshot-2.png, site.xml
Renamed to capture current thrust of issue: should we have more categories than we
currently do on the update site? Expose more/less features? This is a
branding/marketing/ease of use question, so for now I'm bouncing it over to Max for
comments.
