Max Rydahl Andersen commented on JBIDE-4859:
--------------------------------------------
John,
2) I understand your suggestions for Data Service platform but I I would like to avoid
having product names into our jboss tools community updatesite. So we need to find some
better name.
3) J2EE is not JEE and JEE is not only server development. And yes I've used
hibernate, drools, jbpm and almost every other major tech we got outside of a web app,
i.e. commandline or fat clients - but the common denominator were Java/JEE. Java is a bit
too generic so JavaEE sounded pretty god to me. Note, jbpm is not tied to SOA either - its
used as pageflow engine in Seam.
I understand what you are saying and open for better category names - just want to avoid
single item categories ;)
4) From Smooks frontpage: "Smooks is a Java Framework/Engine for processing XML and
non XML data (CSV, EDI, Java etc)." :)
If just Data Services weren't so darn generic then moving Hibernate and smooks in
there starts to make sense for me ?
Create new categories for JBT/JBDS update sites

Key: JBIDE-4859
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-4859
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Build/Releng
Affects Versions: 3.1.0.M3
Reporter: Nick Boldt
Assignee: Max Rydahl Andersen
Priority: Blocker
Fix For: 3.1.0.CR2
Attachments: jbtupdatesitesuggestion.png, screenshot-1.jpg, Screenshot-1.png,
Screenshot-2.png, site.xml
Renamed to capture current thrust of issue: should we have more categories than we
currently do on the update site? Expose more/less features? This is a
branding/marketing/ease of use question, so for now I'm bouncing it over to Max for
comments.
