You do need those third party sites. How else will you get the dependencies resolved?
That said, you're right - they need not be installed BEFORE - they can be installed
concurrently. You just need a place from which to resolve them, which could be the listed
sites or the JBT Target Platform site.
I suppose we could instead publish the target platform rather than pointing people at the
3rd party sites. That would at least get us around the problem where GWT features keep
getting renamed with every release (rather than simply reversioned).

It's not necessary to install additional plugins (Birt, Maven, Google ...) prior JBT
installation. So instructions related to additional plugins installation written on JBT
Update sites (i.e. http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/nightly/trunk/) should be
removed.
Once 3.2.0. CR1 will be published as stable also Update site of stable release should be
updated in the same manner.
