Thanks for the screencast, that clarifies things :-)
The problem is apparently the trailing '/'. I consistently tried to reproduce it
without '/' and then it works as expected.

There are actually two issues when trying to remove the project. The first issue is
exception thrown in Error Log. The second is the fact the project is not completely
removed - the project folder remains and contains empty bin folder.
