Don't know what was wrong then. EAP 6 ER8 works fine. Verified in
jbdevstudio-product-universal-5.0.0.v201205220143N-H1345-CR1.jar

With JBIDE-11674 fixed, it turns out EAP6 ER6 cannot stop properly.
This is all that's printed in the log:

Also, there are plenty of errors in the log like this:
