I figured out that adding the site above and clicking on install didn't make an update
to my freemarker IDE so the version was still 1.0.1.GA. With 1.0.2.GA evertything works
fine. Sorry for bothering you.

It's not possible to add new variables to the FreeMarker context of an eclipse
project in Eclipse 3.4 Ganymede. After selecting a class in the dialog opened by the
browse button no value is written in the type textfield. The same procedure works fine
with Eclipse 3.3 and JBoss Tools 2.1.2.GA
