Nick Boldt commented on JBDS-1593:
----------------------------------
m2e and gwt were deemed "unsafe" (at least in terms of including the JBoss Tools
components in JBDS) - not sure about the 3rd party stuff; license question is one for you
to sort out and vet if they're EPL compatible (or if we care that they're not).
GWT in particular is not open source, fwiw.
Subclipse - if that's the SVN provider you've decided can/should be included (not
subversive) - also needs to have its license vetted.
Mylyn is EPL, so that's safe to add and compliments several of the other tools (as
well as providing linkage to our JIRA).
No idea about Groovy or PMD. Or what version(s) to include.
Can you do the license vetting or get someone from legal to do so? Or at the very least,
clarify what the rules are for inclusion/exclusion so I know what to look for in terms of
compliance / non-compliance & our ability to redistribute?
Regarding use cases, you want a grid of what can/cannot be used together? In theory, you
should be able to install all of the above into the same Eclipse install. Or are you more
interested in WHY someone would want to use m2eclipse, groovy, or gwt? (eg., for doing
maven/tycho development, groovy development, gwt development)
Detail what 3rd party projects should be included in JBDS 4.x
