From Jim: "Using the Seam Forge 1.1.1 worked great at my lab 2 weeks ago, however using the Forge update forge runtime put the updated run time in the workspace and not in the main install of JBDS 5. Of course deleting the workspace, I do this always when setting up labs, meant the updated Forge Runtime was lost, is this really correct, the updated forge runtime only going into the Workspace and not the 'entire" JBDS install and updated for all new things moving forward" one caveat here is that the default runtime will still be the one chosen, but at least you dont have to setup the runtime.
