I see kind of thte same behaviour in my XForms editor when editing IN the visual pane.
When typing quickly thingsget out of sync
VPE - it is possible to get unsynchronized Visual/Source

try to Undo/Redo -> Ctrl-Z/Ctrl-Y type something in between:

do all these quickly - press Ctrl-S
you could get unsynchronized Visual/Source.

As I think the key word here to reproduce it is "quickly".
