That could be it - I guess some testing needs to be done to make sure. There's no GTK2
in the group "X Window System" but there is one in "GNOME Desktop
Environment" or "Desktop Environment" as RHEL calls it.
Any dependency to the OS should be documented and enforced. It would be SO much easier if
JBDS came as an RPM ;)

When loading JBDS without gnome running, the following error/issue is reported:
GConf Error: Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that you
need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS locks due to a system
crash. See http://projects.gnome.org/gconf/ for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get
connection to session: /bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally without any error message)
