George, which Git client are you using? If it is Msysgit, what options did you use during
installation? I have tried to reproduce the issue and I see the error that you described
but contrarily to your case even the Forge command client doesn't want to execute my
Git commands... :-/

In Windows, when I start the Forge console view and run the command "git", I
get the following error:

***ERROR*** [git] Cannot run program "git" (in directory
"D:\eclipse\workspace"): CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file
specified

However, it works fine when I run outside eclipse (in Forge command client).
