Which server are you trying to run on here ?
If not the EAP bundled with JBDS then you need to enable jmx access to have external
deployment and querying supported.
I guess we should consider polluting EAP servers by default instead of the more clean
"outside" deployment.

the default location (.metadata/.plugins/org.jboss.ide.eclipse.as.core/) will not work
for Seam Portal applications.
Customers need to go in and change this to the server deploy folder.
