Rob Stryker resolved JBIDE-11525.
---------------------------------
Resolution: Won't Fix
It seems this was a horrible work-around idea from 2009. EAP 4.3 and AS 4.x did not have
full support for ee5.0, so descriptors were 100% required. Unfortunately, we had no way
to change the ear project wizard or change whether the box could be checked or unchecked.
At the time, we just chose to force the application.xml to be created.
I realize it's a bit of a UI error and confusing for a user, but this will not be
fixed because it would lead to a regression of 5018.
When creating EAR project for EAP 4.3 application.xml gets created
even if not checked

Key: JBIDE-11525
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-11525
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Components: JBossAS/Servers
Affects Versions: 3.3.0.Beta2
Environment: JBDS 5 Beta2
Mac OS X Lion
Reporter: Martin Malina
Assignee: Rob Stryker
Fix For: 3.3.0.Beta3
I ran across this when verifying JBIDE-8863.
When you create an EAR project with EAP 4.3 as the target runtime and not check
"Generate application.xml deployment descriptor", it will still create the
descriptor.
I'm not sure but perhaps deployment descriptor are not needed from EE 5. So if
that's true it makes sense that it gets created for EAP 4.3, but it's still a bug
- the checkbox should be disabled then.
