Nick Boldt edited comment on JBDS-1648 at 11/8/11 7:38 PM:
-----------------------------------------------------------
I have personally witnessed this on Win7_64, but based on other reports it appears to
affect WinVista_64 and Win7_32, leading me to believe it affects WinVista_32 too, despite
the cryptic comments above, "I sucessfully tested with Windows Vista 32b" [sic].
(Does that mean tested and witnessed the crash, or couldn't reproduce?)
The fix is here:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/attachment.cgi?id=193993&action=diff
... which appears to affect all win32 Eclipse-based apps, and therefore might affect XP
too, since it's Eclipse 3.6.2 that's the problem, not specifically the version (or
arch) of Windows.
Might as well just document it like this:
{code}
If installing JBDS 4 from the win32 installer, please avoid using any feature or plugin
which involves the SWT TaskBar,
as this will crash JBDS. This includes Mylyn 3.5 or later, as well as Mylyn integrations
for Subclipse & eGit. If
installing Subclipse or eGit be sure to NOT install the Mylyn integration or you'll be
bitten in the ass by this problem
as soon as you restart post-installation.
You could also try using Fedora, RHEL, any other Linux or OSX operating system, for which
this problem does not occur.
{code}

JBoss Dev Studio 4.0 crash
--------------------------
Key: JBDS-1648
URL:
https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBDS-1648
Project: Developer Studio (JBoss Developer Studio)
Issue Type: Bug
Security Level: Public(Everyone can see)
Components: 3rdPartyCertification, 3rdPartyDependencies, documentation,
Upstream
Affects Versions: 4.0.0.GA, 4.1.1.GA
Environment: Win 7 x64 Pro SP1
Reporter: Matt V
Assignee: Isaac Rooskov
Fix For: 4.1.1.GA
Attachments: hs_err_pid2468.log, hs_err_pid4368.log,
JBDS-1648.install.notes.JBDS411.txt, JBDS-1648.install.notes.JBDS5M4.txt,

I had installed the 4.0GA version of Jboss Dev Studio, created a sample project. Later I
restarted the Studio after attempting to install a few plugins (I believe Subclipse).
Every time afterwards, it would launch the studio , the UI would launch with code
windows, and then the studio would crash to desktop in less than a second afterwards.
I do have dump eclipse files that can be attached to this issues.
Note: I am able to open the same workspace without any issues using the STS eclipse IDE.
