Given we have a JBDS 4.1 coming in June, would it make sense to switch the tests to use
this ER1 CP of 5.1.1 NOW, rather than waiting until ER2, CR1, CR2, etc. come down the
pipe?

The Seam 2.2 DVD Store example is not working with EAP 5.1.1 ER1. It fails to deploy.
We had a similar problem in EAP 5.1 and it was resolved by updating the project-examples
to use a newer version of the example. See JBIDE-6696.
