Snjezana Peco commented on JBIDE-2881:
--------------------------------------
UTF-8Y isn't supported by Eclipse wtp.
Depending on your validation preferences, you can see validation errors in wtp xml editor
as well as in JBoss xml editor.
A quick fix is to move to the Source tab and remove the first three chars () - as shown
in the attached screenshot.
That will convert your file to UTF-8.
Incompatibility with UTF-8Y
---------------------------
Key: JBIDE-2881
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-2881
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 2.1.2
Environment: Windows XP, Java 1.5u14, Eclipse 3.3 (Configured in Eclipse.ini to
use UTF-8 as default encoding)
Reporter: Francisco Jose Peredo Noguez
Fix For: 3.0.0.cr1
Attachments: screenshot-1.jpg, screenshot-2.jpg, screenshot-3.jpg,

If, for example, components.xml is edited with another XML that saves it with encoding
UTF-8Y then the visual editor produces an error (I like that) but it does not help to fix
it (It took me a lot of hours to find out what was going on). It should offer to remove
the UTF-8Y BOM.
