Denis Maliarevich commented on JBIDE-3451:
------------------------------------------
To make the understanding of the options on the VPE preference page more clear the
following steps could be performed:
1) Add "Main instructions" in the top of the preference page that user could
notice the matter of this page, e.g. "On this page you can set default VPE setting
for files that haven't been opened in the VPE before. Already opened files will have
their previous editor state restored."
In this case the behavior of some other VPE preference page options should be updated
because changing some of them affects current opened editor.
2) "Supplemental explanations" (an elaboration of the control labels (typically
for command links, radio buttons, and check boxes) can be used to clarify the purpose of
this VPE option, e.g. "Default Editor Tab" can have an explanation like
"Select the active editor's tab for files that haven't been previously opened
in the VPE".
3) One more checkbox could be added to the preference page saying that "Apply these
settings every time I open a file in VPE. Do not remember previously saved state." So
than VPE will use preference page settings every time and for any file, regardless
it's new or has been previously opened.
VPE - Preferences - please remove or rename "Default Editor
Tab"

Key: JBIDE-3451
URL:
https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE-3451
Project: Tools (JBoss Tools)
Issue Type: Feature Request
Components: Visual Page Editor core
Affects Versions: 3.0.0.cr1
Reporter: Vitali Yemialyanchyk
Assignee: Denis Maliarevich
Priority: Minor
Fix For: LATER
Maxim, as you told me "Default Editor Tab" selection means default editor tab
selection for new created jsp file (for example), in other rest cases vpe remember
it's last open state. When i press "Preferences" and "Default Editor
Tab" i expect to change something usefull for current editor.
We can easy remove it and always open "Visual/Source" for new created files.
Or it should be renamed into something like this "Default Editor Tab for new VPE
files" - this name help you avoid questions.
