Requesting option to create a new jBPM action and ESB action. Without this, I always have
to go to the quickstarts and copy a default action because I can't remember what
interfaces each of the actions have to extend, what methods they have to implement, and
what the constructor has to be.
Would be nice to right-click on source dir in jBPM and ESB project (or from File menu) and
select:
New | Other | ESB | ESB Action
of
New | Other | JBoss jBPM | jBPM Action
I think it would save new users even more time, because they may not know to go look in
the quickstarts to find a template action to copy.

Sorry, I wasn't clear hear. I actually mean neither. Instead, I'm talking about
creating a new Java class implementation of an action.
For example, if I want to create a custom ESB action or a custom jBPM action handler, both
have to implement certain interfaces and such. Right now, the user has to either know
what they are or find an existing action to copy.
For the new ESB action, I would recommend having it create a class something like this:

Hey Slava... This is another usability tweak if we can do this...
Couple of things:
1) In the ESB editor, the option to create a new custom action is called "Generic
Action..." Can we change this to "Custom Action..."? It's called a
"custom action" in all the documentation and training materials.
2) In the ESB Action dialog that is launched by the Generic/Custom Action menu, is there a
way to add a specific class content (such as is in comment #2 for the
AbstractActionLifecycle example) for the class that gets created? At the minimum, it needs
to implement the org.jboss.soa.esb.actions.AbstractActionLifecycle interface. But it would
be good to include the extra bits there to help out the developer implementing the action
if possible.

I committed more changes to improve this feature.
1. New class wizard is customized: its title is "New ESB Action" instead of
"New Java Class".
2.Wizard New | Other | ESB | ESB Action is added as requested in description - it creates
ESB action java class rather than action element in esb.xml.
3. New Custom Action wizard in ESB editor reuses this action when link on 'class'
attribute is invoked (initial implementation patched code in common.model.ui plugin, now
esb specific code is moved to esb.ui plugin).

Please check that your esb.xml uses jbossesb-1.0.1.xsd. I did not modify ESB editor for
this version, for other versions the feature should be ok with your workspace. Do we need
it for 1.0.1 as well, and should not for older esb runtimes generated class be somewhat

Here is test case.
1 .Create ESB file version 1.2.0 in ESB project.
2. Create a service.
3. Run New -> Custom Action
4. Click link 'Class' in the dialog.
Wizard 'New ESB Action' must appear with 'Superclass' field filled with
'org.jboss.soa.esb.actions.AbstractActionPipelineProcessor'.
Brian, is 'Superclass' field is just 'java.lang.Object' in your case?
Please check that you have the latest version of plugins.

Requesting option to create ESB action. Without this, I always have to go to the
quickstarts and copy a default action because I can't remember what interfaces each of
the actions have to extend, what methods they have to implement, and what the constructor

and select:
New | Other | ESB | ESB Action
I think it would save new users even more time, because they may not know to go look in

I have found the problem after having updated org.jboss.tools.esb.project.core. It looks
like JBIDE-5444 was fixed but not exactly as I expected.
New ESB project wizard creates ESB file that has
xsi:schemaLocation="http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/labs/labs/jbosses...
http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/labs/labs/jbossesb/trunk/product/etc/schem...
instead of
xsi:schemaLocation="http://anonsvn.labs.jboss.com/labs/jbossesb/trun...
http://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/labs/labs/jbossesb/trunk/product/etc/schem...
That is, this attribute should map namespace uri to schema location, while now it just
repeats twice schema location.
Please ask Denny to check JBIDE-5444.
For now, this issue may be tested by creating new ESB file with New -> ESB File
wizard.

Hey Slava... I just tried to do #3 from comment #12 above (New Custom Action wizard in ESB
editor reuses this action when link on 'class' attribute is invoked (initial
implementation patched code in common.model.ui plugin, now esb specific code is moved to
esb.ui plugin).) and it doesn't open the same new class page as the New | Other | ESB
| ESB Action wizard does. Did something revert? This is in the latest CR2 build.

I found that JBDS run with downloaded build preference page JBoss Tools/Web/Templates is
missing. This page is registered in org.jboss.tools.common.model.ui plugin.xml in the same
way as preference page JBoss Tools/Web/Label Decorations, and this one is shown ok. Brian,
please check if your JBDS misses preference page Templates. Without it, not only this
action, but some other features will fail.

Interesting. I was even testing it on JBT. And yes, that's missing. Checking the
installation, the plug-in is there however. Could it possibly be a missing dependency?
To reproduce this, all you need is a clean Eclipse JEE 3.5.1 environment and the latest
JBT build (last one I tried was JBossTools-Update-3.1.0.v201002152212M-H249-CR2.zip).
Install from the update site zip - do the "All" category that comes up first.

Brian, sorry, I gave a wrong hint. Templates preference page is hidden by default. Please
open Preferences/General/Capabilities, check in JBoss Tools Experimental configuration and
press OK. Then once more open Preferences and you will find JBoss Tools/Web/Templates.
Please look into Groups control (in the upper section) and check that there are 4 entries
with jbossesb uri. If they are ok, then try creating esb config file by action
File->New->Other->ESB->New File. Select version 1.1.0 or 1.2.0 (not 1.0.1, for
that old version feature is not activated). Check new action wizard with the created
file.

Ok, I see the problem. Plugin org.jboss.tools.esb.ui is now built as jar and existing code
cannot find entries in /templates folder. Plugin org.jboss.tools.common.model.ui is built
as folder and the same code accesses its /templates folder correctly. I think that now we
have to ask build team (Nick Boldt?) to change build so as to leave org.jboss.tools.esb.ui
to be a folder as before.

Requesting option to create ESB action. Without this, I always have to go to the
quickstarts and copy a default action because I can't remember what interfaces each of
the actions have to extend, what methods they have to implement, and what the constructor
has to be.
Would be nice to right-click on source dir in jBPM and ESB project (or from File menu)
and select:
New | Other | ESB | ESB Action
I think it would save new users even more time, because they may not know to go look in
the quickstarts to find a template action to copy.

I've set unpack="true" in esb.ui's container feature.xml, in
o.j.t.esb.feature.
Next build should install that plugin as a folder, not a jar.
