Is seem that installer has problem with finding servers. It finds it during installation
process, but when I then run JBDS with new workspace, I can't see servers found
during installation in Server View. There are quite strange conditions to make this
happen.
Requirements:
* JBDS CR2
* jboss-eap-noauth-5.0.0.GA.zip
unzip jboss-eap-noauth-5.0.0.GA.zip /tmp/
cp -a /tmp/jboss-eap-5.0/jboss-as /tmp
Now we have EAP5 plattform in /tmp/jboss-eap-5.0/ and jboss 5 AS in /tmp/jboss-as
Steps to reproduce:
* Run JBDS CR2 installer
* When adding servers, the order DOES matter (If you find servers in reverse order,
everything works as expected)
* Find -> Select path /tmp/jboss-as
* Find -> Select path tmp/jboss-eap-5.0/
After installation run JBDS and point workspace to some new/empty dir
Result : No servers or only one of them (always eap) can be found in Server View.

I´ve discovered something that might help fixing. Suppose that I´ve done all steps to
reproduce written before. When I run JBDS within new/clean workspace, I really sometimes
do see only one of 2 servers. But when I restart jbds with same workspace, suddenly both
servers appear. Behaviour seems to be quite random to me.

between Installation and Shortcut panels, there should be no problems here.

your JBDS distribution?
What machine configuration are you using?
You have to wait for jbds to create these servers (this happens in the background) which
can take some time on a slower machine.

Servers really did not show up just because I've opened 'Servers' view too
early. There is no Refresh option on the servers view nor servers are not added by the
background thread to the view. So One must Close and Reopen the view to see all servers.
Snjezana do you think it makes sense/is possible to implement some 'Servers view'
refreshment after adding all servers?

server.
Could you provide some more details (OS, JDK , hardware you are using and

Is seem that installer has problem with finding servers. It finds it during installation
process, but when I then run JBDS with new workspace, I can't see servers found
during installation in Server View. There are quite strange conditions to make this

unzip jboss-eap-noauth-5.0.0.GA.zip /tmp/

Steps to reproduce:
* Run JBDS CR2 installer
* When adding servers, the order DOES matter (If you find servers in reverse order,

* Find -> Select path /tmp/jboss-as
* Find -> Select path tmp/jboss-eap-5.0/
After installation run JBDS and point workspace to some new/empty dir
Result : No servers or only one of them (always eap) can be found in Server View.

Just to note. Server runtimes are registered correctly, only Server view does not show all
installed server instances. Closing / Opening Server view helps:

I've just reproduced it again. It depends on number of servers you have and some
randoms such thread scheduling I think.
1. Install JBDS + find/add as more servers as possible
2. Run JBDS on empy/non-existing workspace
3. Right after it starts, close welcome screen and focus on Servers View.
Max, I think it is timing issue too. It seems this is because the thread does not finish
generating server configurations before Servers View is shown, it could be proofed by
temporary putting Thread sleeps into generating code.

I have tried to reproduce the case by changing JBDS in the following way:
- JBDS doesn't show the Welcome Screen
- the JBossRuntimeStartup class shows the Servers view first and then it creates servers
(11 servers)
Screencast http://screencast.com/t/NDY2MjkxYjA demonstrates that the Servers view
refreshes the servers correctly.
Questions:
1) Can you reproduce the problem on any other OS except Fedora 12, linux x86_64 ?
It is possible that there is a bug in linux_gtk x86_64.
2) Which JDK are you using?
3) Are you using a symbolic link for any your server home directory ?
If yes, can you try to reproduce the problem without using symbolic links ?
Possible solutions:
- adding the refresh action to the Servers View
- within the JBossRuntimeStartup class, refreshing the Server's viewer after creating

Ok, adding refresh button doesn't work since we dont control that view and it would
only be used for this very specific usecase.
Forcing a refresh would be better.

No I can't. I tried WinXP, Vista with no succes (to reproduce).

Attached is the org.jboss.tools.runtime_1.1.0.v201003050335M-H45-CR3 plugin that refreshes
the Servers view after adding servers.
Could you copy it to <JBDS_HOME>/studio/plugins and remove the original version of
this plugin?
If you aren't using jbdevstudio-eap-win32-3.0.0.v201003050335M-H45-CR3, open the
<JBDS_HOME>/eclipse/configuration/org.eclipse.equinox.simpleconfigurator/bundles.info
file, find line
org.jboss.tools.runtime,1.1.0.<YOUR_VERSION>,../studio/eclipse/plugins/org.jboss.tools.runtime_1.1.0.<YOUR_VERSION>.jar,4,false
and replace <YOUR_VERSION> with v201003050335M-H45-CR3.
Add -clean to <JBDS_HOME/eclipse/eclipse.ini and start JBDS in a new workspace. The
-clean option is necessary only when you start JBDS the first time after installing the
plugin. After that it can be removed.
If this plugin is set correctly, you will have "refresh" information message in
the Error Log.

There is a problem with the org.jboss.tools.jbpm.common plugin. Namely, within JBIDE-5951
the visibility of the INSTANCE field is changed from public to private which is the reason
why the jBPM runtimes aren't initialized correctly in JBDS 3.0.0.GA (the runtime
plugin uses the INSTANCE field; the getInstance() method introduced by this change) . If I
change the runtime plugin, it won't be compatible with older versions.
The following is part of the patch attached to JBIDE-5951 that changes API.
