For test purposes I create org.hibernate.eclipse.console.test ->
org.hibernate.eclipse.console.db.test.BigDBCreateTest - the main goal of this class is
creation test database with specified number of related tables. Then with helh of
BigDBCreateTest I create a big enough database with 3000 tables in it. And then I try to
test hibernate plugins performance. I create a configuration for my test db and I create
reveng.xml for this configuration. Then I open reveng.xml in the Hibernate reverse
engeniering editor -> I open Table & Columns tab -> I press Add... button ->
I get tables selection dialog with all tables in it -> then I slect all tables and
press Ok button -> I get Eclipse hanging - it do not respond in reasonable period of
time - so I should terminate it.

JBIDE-2163 & JBIDE-2164 - was specific issues for my test environment when I fix it -
I find what currently there are some performance problems and JBIDE-2162 is just trial of
this. So I'll create new issue and make it related.

yes, I look into to and find why it happend. The most time consuming thing here is ->
JDBCReader -> readDatabaseSchema -> resolveForeignKeys.
Firstly I suspected what JBIDE-2162 & JBIDE-2173 was different. But now it clear what
these issues are definitely the same.

I try debug DatabaseMetaData code and seems I find the reason. The main problem here - for
each table extracted all foreing keys for all tables:
JDBCReader::processForeignKeys -> JDBCMetaDataDialect::getExportedKeys ->
DatabaseMetaData::getExportedKeys -> DatabaseMetaData::extractForeignKeyFromCreateTable
-> DatabaseMetaData::extractForeignKeyForTable.
It seems possible to extract it only once.

return to the issue - I'll try to fix it - as I see the main drawback here -
"editor.getReverseEngineeringDefinition().addTable(retable);" after any addTable
- here xml node formated and DOMReverseEngineeringDefinition.hibernateMappingChanged()
-> TablePropertiesContentProvider -> viewer.refresh();
it seems possible to perform these only once after all tables be added.

For test purposes I create org.hibernate.eclipse.console.test ->
org.hibernate.eclipse.console.db.test.BigDBCreateTest - the main goal of this class is
creation test database with specified number of related tables. Then with helh of
BigDBCreateTest I create a big enough database with 3000 tables in it. And then I try to
test hibernate plugins performance. I create a configuration for my test db and I create
reveng.xml for this configuration. Then I open reveng.xml in the Hibernate reverse
engeniering editor -> I open Table & Columns tab -> I press Add... button ->
I get tables selection dialog with all tables in it -> then I slect all tables and
press Ok button -> I get Eclipse hanging - it do not respond in reasonable period of
time - so I should terminate it.

2) Why didn't you introduce a addTables(Table[]) operation that could allow the
subclasses to take care of the large operation
